Two people have been arrested in connection with a shooting that seriously injured a teenage boy last weekend in southeast Wichita.
The shooting was reported shortly after 2 a.m. Saturday in the 3800 block of East Ross Parkway in the Planeview neighborhood, Lt. Doug Nolte said. A 16-year-old boy was shot in the back of the neck and seriously injured.
Although he told his mother about the shooting, police have said he was not cooperating with the investigation. However, officers were able to identify suspects over the course of their investigation.
Police records show a 15-year-old boy was arrested at noon Wednesday at 2301 E. Douglas and 23-year-old George Daniel Cadenas was arrested shortly before 5 p.m. at 1212 S. Mosley.

Cadenas was booked on suspicion of attempted first-degree murder, aggravated robbery and possession of marijuana, jail records show. He is being held on $100,000 bond.
The shooting does not appear to be gang-related, said Lt. Scott Heimerman, head of the gang unit.
“The motive is still in question,” Heimerman said in an e-mail response to questions.
