AARP president Robert Romasco and Wichita Mayor Carl Brewer will appear together at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the city’s Grandparents Park, at the corner of East Kellogg Drive and Estelle.
The park, dedicated earlier this summer, helped Wichita earn membership in the AARP Network of Age-Friendly Communities, the first Kansas city to earn that membership.
Grandparents Park, just west of Hillside, features walking trails, exercise equipment and playground equipment for children. It was a partnership between the city and AARP, with the city donating the land and AARP providing funding.
Council member Lavonta Williams, whose district includes the park, and other council members have been invited to the event.
