More showers and thunderstorms are possible in the Wichita area today, forecasters say.
Rain is most likely in the morning and then again in the evening on what will otherwise be a hot, steamy day. Temperatures are expected to climb into the upper 90s, with the heat index soaring to about 105 in the metropolitan area, forecasters say. South winds will be in the teens, with gusts topping 25 miles an hour.
Showers and thunderstorms will continue to be possible overnight, with lows dipping to the low 70s. Winds will shift from the south to the north, gusting to nearly 25 miles once again.
Wednesday will be cooler, forecasters say, with highs only reaching the low 90s. Winds will persist out of the north in the teens. Rain is likely prior to the start of the work day.
