Plane comes to rest on shoulder of U.S. 54

The pilot of a 1979 Beechcraft Sundowner struck a barbed wire fence while taking off from a grass field east of Augusta, before coming to rest on a shoulder of U.S. 54, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol.

No injuries were reported.

The incident occurred four miles east of Augusta at milepost 239, the highway patrol said,

The pilot was Caleb Marsh, 28, manager of the El Dorado Airport. His passenger was 44-year-old Craig Cooper of Andover.
