Security at Mid-Continent Airport discovered a firearm in a carry-on bag Thursday afternoon, according to a release from the Transportation Security Administration.
It is the second firearm discovered by airport security this year. The firearm, a .25 caliber Targa GT, and magazine were unloaded. TSA has found more than 900 firearms at checkpoints across the nation this year.
Firearms and ammunition are permitted in checked baggage, but must be stored in a locked, hard-sided container and be declared upon check-in, the release stated.
