Police investigate after man shows up at hospital with critical wounds

A man who suffered critical wounds in an apparent stabbing showed up at a local hospital Wednesday afternoon, and police are investigating what events led to his injuries, according to Sedgwick County Dispatch.

The man arrived at Via Christi Hospital on Harry shortly before hospital staff called 911 at 3:25 p.m., a dispatch supervisor said. He had apparently been dropped off and was in critical condition.

Wichita police spent part of Wednesday afternoon searching for a crime scene at multiple addresses, the dispatch supervisor said. Another dispatch supervisor said later that officers were focusing at an apartment complex in the 400 block of East Marion. That’s near Pawnee and Broadway.

Details on what happened remained unclear Wednesday evening. The man’s age was unknown to dispatch. Initial reports indicated the man’s wounds could have also been caused by gunshots.
