Police are interested in hearing from anyone who can corroborate a man’s claim that he was attacked and robbed in west Wichita on Tuesday afternoon.
The 29-year-old man told a 911 operator that he was hit with a piece of wood and beaten by a group of men behind the Dollar General shortly after 4 p.m. in the 1200 block of West Douglas, Lt. Doug Nolte said. They stole money and a necklace from him, he claimed.
But the victim began changing his story once officers arrived, Nolte said, and he had no visible bruises or other injuries.
“He’s claimed a lot of different things,” Nolte said. “We’re just trying to figure out if anything actually happened.”
