A storm debris collection site Sedgwick County opened last week will close at 7 p.m. daily so it can be monitored, officials announced Wednesday.
The site is for tree limbs and brush only. Commissioner Tim Norton said for the most part, residents have not dumped other materials there, but a few have. Closing at 7 p.m. will give the county a chance to make sure people aren’t dumping other items.
Norton said Tuesday that about 5,000 truckloads of debris had been dumped at the site, which is on the east side of 63rd Street South and Meridian at the Big Ditch.
The county plans to burn the debris later. The collection site will be open through at least July.
