Triple digits are on the menu for the Wichita area as the work week gets under way, forecasters say.
100s are possible today and Tuesday before showers and thunderstorms enter the forecast in mid-week. South winds will be in the teens and gusty at times, forecasters say, topping out near 30 miles an hour.
Overnight lows won’t drop far below 80 under mostly clear skies. South winds will remain gusty, reaching the mid-20s at times.
Tuesday is shaping up to be even warmer than Monday, forecasters say, with the heat index reaching 105 in central and south-central Kansas. A heat advisory may be activated for Tuesday in southern Kansas as well.
Chances for showers on Wednesday and Thursday bring slightly cooler temperatures as well, forecasters say.
