Two women were arrested on suspicion of aggravated battery after fighting each other over a 25-year-old man around 12:45 a.m. Friday, police said.
The man’s current girlfriend, 24, scheduled to fight his ex-girlfriend, 21, around McCormick and Millwood streets early Friday morning, Lt. Doug Nolte said.
During the fight, the 24-year-old pulled out a knife and stabbed the other woman in her left forearm, creating a 2-inch laceration. The 21-year-old then took out a baton she had brought and hit the 24-year-old in the head, leaving an open wound, police said.
Officers arrived and called EMS, after which the 24-year-old woman was taken to Via Christi Hospital on St. Francis in serious condition. Since her cut “wasn’t such that it needed immediate attention,” the 21-year-old was taken in and interviewed by police, Nolte said. She eventually was taken to Via Christi Hospital on St. Francis at her request, police said.
