A temper tantrum by a teenager at the Wichita River Festival landed her in jail when she threw a bottle at a police horse during the Wichita River Festival on Thursday night.
The 14-year-old girl refused to comply with repeated requests by police to move shortly before 6:30 p.m. at A. Price Woodard Park, in the 400 block of West Douglas, Wichita police Lt. Doug Nolte said. She became agitated to the point where she threw a water bottle and hit a police horse in the leg.
The horse was not hurt, but the girl was nevertheless arrested.
“It is illegal to harass a police animal,” Nolte said.
