Dub this one the Case of the Apologetic Burglar.
A 23-year-old man was awakened by a noise near his front door at about 6:45 a.m. on Friday in the 2200 block of South White Oak, Wichita police Lt. Doug Nolte said. That’s northeast of Pawnee and Rock Road.
When he reached the top of the stairs, Nolte said, the resident spotted a burglar come through his front door. The suspect looked up, saw the man standing there, said “I’m sorry” and fled.
The resident told police the burglar is a black man in his late 20s. He’s about 5-feet-8 and 185 pounds. He had a nearly bald head and sported a goatee. He wore jeans and a gray T-shirt. He drove off in a mid-1990s white Chevy Impala or Caprice with a personalized tag.
