The Household Hazardous Waste Facility at 801 Stilwell in Wichita is open from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday to Friday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays. A news release from the county said it accepts items such as paint, batteries, used oil, gasoline, antifreeze, pesticides, herbicides, garden chemicals, household cleaners, fluorescent bulbs, propane and old medicine excepting controlled substances.
The facility offers a swap-and-shop where county residents can pick up paint, fertilizers and other items for free for use at home.
