Drive-by follows argument between rival gang members

An argument between rival gang members led to a drive-by shooting minutes later Tuesday night, police said.

A 33-year-old man riding home on his bike came across a 16-year-old boy at about 11:30 p.m. in the 2400 block of North Estelle, Wichita police Lt. Doug Nolte said. That’s northwest of 21st and Hillside.

The two people are in rival gangs, Nolte said, and they exchanged words. The older man then continued on to his house in the 2500 block of Estelle.

About 10 minutes later, he was standing in his front yard when one or two people pulled up in a black or dark blue Saturn and fired four shots at him. He was not hurt, Nolte said.

Anyone who has information linked to the incident is asked to contact police, Nolte said.
