Kansans who submitted a valid foreclosure payment claim through the National Mortgage Settlement will receive a check this month for around $1,480, Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt said Wednesday in a news release.
More than $9 million will be distributed to 6,350 Kansans. Borrowers whose mortgages were foreclosed between Jan. 1, 2008,and Dec. 31, 2011, by one of the five participating mortgage services were eligible to file a claim. Those services are Ally (formerly GMAC), Bank of America, Citi, JPMorgan Chase and Wells Fargo.
Accepting the payment does not prohibit a borrower from filing a separate lawsuit or claim, according to the news release.
Everyone who filed a claim will receive a letter regarding their outcome. Those with questions about their payment should call the settlement administrator at 866-430-8358.
