A 15-year-old Hutchinson boy is in critical condition at a Wichita hospital after his moped was struck by a vehicle Monday afternoon, authorities said.
Duncan Lee was riding his moped when he ran a red light just after 3 p.m. Monday at Third and Severance in Hutchinson, witnesses told police. His moped was struck by a Ford Mustang, Hutchinson police Sgt. Brian Hirt said in a prepared statement.
Lee was wearing a helmet, but it came off in the collision. He was flown by medical helicopter to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, where he is in critical condition with a head injury. He also suffered a broken leg in the collision, Hirt said.
The collision remains under investigation. No citations were issued to the 39-year-old driver of the Mustang, Hirt said.
