How two men handled a dispute between them landed both in jail on Wednesday, police said.
The argument escalated to the point where one of the men hit the other with his car, knocking him up onto the hood and then the windshield, Lt. Doug Nolte said. The victim, 52, then retrieved a gun and threatened to kill the 51-year-old driver of the car.
The clash occurred at about 12:30 p.m. Wednesday in the 2300 block of East 21st Street, Nolte said. That’s just west of 21st and Grove.
The man hit by the car was eventually taken to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries and booked into jail on suspicion of aggravated assault with a firearm, Nolte said. The driver was arrested on suspicion of aggravated battery.

The man struck by the car was arrested because enough time passed between the incidents for them to be considered two separate events, Nolte said.
“We have not located the gun,” he said. “We do not know what precipitated the argument.”
