With the arrest of two men on Thursday, detectives think they may have solved a series of recent robberies, police said.
Acting on a tip, detectives were staking out a residence in the 700 block of South Sylvan early Thursday afternoon, Lt. Doug Nolte said. Someone called 911 to report a robbery at the Kwik Shop at 2809 E. Douglas, and a short time later a car pulled up to the house being watched and dropped off a man.
The detectives followed the car and alerted officers to its activity, Nolte said. A patrol car pulled the suspect vehicle over in the 4800 block of East Harry and took the driver into custody.
Other officers went to the house on Sylvan, Nolte said. When he came outside, he saw the police and slashed his wrist. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment and then booked into the Sedgwick County Jail following interrogation.
Authorities suspect the pair in 8 to 10 robberies over the past few weeks, Nolte said, including a couple earlier this week.
