Correction: The sculpture is of a flamingo. A previous version of the story had the wrong bird.
A new touchable art sculpture will be unveiled Thursday at the Sedgwick County Zoo.
Envision donated the flamingo sculpture to the zoo. A dedication ceremony at the flamingo exhibit near the zoo’s entrance is planned for 10 a.m. Thursday with remarks from the zoo’s executive director, Mark Reed; Sedgwick County Commissioner Karl Peterjohn; and Envision President and CEO Michael Monteferrante.
Envision has been donating touchable sculptures to the zoo since 1992, a news release said. The animal sculptures give those who are blind or have low vision a way to “see” an animal on display.
