Westar has held similar events across Kansas because “several thousand applications are rejected annually due to an incomplete application or failing to provide supporting documents,” Peggy Ricketts, the utility’s vice president for customer care, said in a statement. “These on-site events help individuals understand the application process and what is needed to receive those benefits.”
Eligibility is based on income and household size. The eligibility threshold for a family of four is monthly income of $2,497 or less.
For eligibility information on other household sizes, visit www.dcf.ks.gov/services/ees/Pages/Energy/EnergyAssistance.aspx or call 800-432-0043.
