Man takes money after woman cashes disability check

A 36-year-old woman is missing the money from her disability check after a friend gave her a ride to the grocery store to cash it, then stole it.

The woman told police she had $2,000 in cash after cashing the check shortly before 1:30 p.m. Saturday, according to Sgt. Bart Brunscheen, spokesman for the Wichita Police Department.

Police are searching for the man who is reported to be a white male, 6 feet tall, weighs 225 pounds and is bald with tattoos on his left and right arms and on the right side of his neck. She told police he punched her twice in the face and took her purse containing the money. They are also looking for another man who assisted in the robbery.

The incident happened in the 6100 block of West Kellogg.
