Temperatures could flirt with 90 under sunny skies today in the Wichita metropolitan area, forecasters say.
That’s more than a dozen degrees warmer than Tuesday’s high of 76. You can thank gusty southwest winds and an approaching frontal system that’s compressing air in the atmosphere – heating it up in the process, forecasters say.
Winds will be in the teens and gust to about 20 miles an hour. Skies should remain mostly clear overnight, with lows dipping to the mid-50s, and Thursday should see temperatures begin to cool back down.
Highs Thursday will be in the low 80s under partly cloudy skies. There’s a slight chance for showers late Thursday night and early Friday morning, forecasters say.
