Man jumps out of car to beat, rob pedestrian

A man told police he was beaten and robbed by a man who jumped from a passing car early Sunday morning.

The assault occurred at about 7:20 a.m. Sunday in the 2800 block of George Washington Boulevard, Wichita police Lt. Joe Schroeder said. The 24-year-old man said he was walking when a blue Ford Taurus with no rim caps on its tires pulled up and a man jumped out of the passenger seat.

The victim began running, but he was tackled, beaten and robbed by the man. The victim said the suspect, whom he knows by the name of Malik, is a black male in his 30s who is about 240 pounds and bald. He wore a blue shirt with black-and-white stripes.

After the attack, the suspect returned to the blue Taurus and they left the area.
