If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to be on the dispatcher end of a 911 call, here’s your chance.
Sedgwick County 911 is taking applications for a new Citizens Academy, which gives residents a behind-the-scenes look at emergency communications. The next academy starts Sept. 15 and will be offered in three four-hour classes. Participants will listen in to live 911 calls and get an overview of how the emergency communications system works.
The first two sessions will be 8 a.m. to noon Sept. 15 and 22. Participants will schedule their last session individually.
For more information and to apply to the academy, contact Elora Randleas at email@example.com, or visit Emergency Communications online at www.sedgwickcounty.org to download the application.
