Police: Argument leads to beating, robbery; two arrested

Two homeless men were arrested after a third homeless man reported being beaten and robbed early Thursday morning in downtown Wichita, police said.

The incident occurred shortly after 12:30 a.m. near Douglas and McLean, following an argument that stemmed from some name-calling earlier in the day, Lt. Joe Schroeder said.

The 60-year-old man reported being beaten on the head by the two men, who took a small amount of money from his pants pocket. The two were found in the “pocket park” at 100 S. McLean, Schroeder said. Officers found the victim’s money and arrested the two, a 42-year-old man and a 38-year-old man.

The victim was taken to Via Christi on St. Francis for treatment of injuries not considered serious.
