A Wichita man who was arrested last week for allegedly beating his stepson with a hammer, screwdriver and pliers was charged Tuesday with aggravated battery.
Bond for Motoharu Takeda, 37, was set at $50,000, and a preliminary hearing was set for Sept. 4.
Wichita police said Takeda was arrested Friday night after the 44-year-old stepson, who has Down syndrome, was taken to Wesley Medical Center for treatment of injuries that included a broken finger, two broken toes and internal bleeding.
