Police have few leads in a shooting incident that happened early Sunday morning a few blocks east of I-135, north of Central.
A police officer working a traffic stop at 13th and Minneapolis reported hearing about 10 gunshots southeast of his location at about 12:30 a.m. Sunday, Lt. Doug Nolte said.
Officers responding to the area located seven people in a house in the 1100 block of North Madison, northwest of Ninth and Grove, who reported seeing muzzle flashes from behind a fence in a backyard across the street.
“Nobody was seen shooting,” Nolte said. “They just saw the muzzle flashes.”
Shell casings from a large caliber handgun were found behind the fence. The house was hit by two bullets and a car hit by one, Nolte said, but no injuries were reported.
The residents ranged in age from 10 to 20, Nolte said, three females and four males. They said they had no idea why they might be targeted, he said.
