Missing Overland Park man found dead in Bates County field

An Overland Park man who had been missing nearly a week was found dead Wednesday afternoon in rural Bates County, Mo..

David Lee Dotson, 66 had been the subject of a Silver Alert because he was an insulin-dependent diabetic. He left his home on Thursday and did not return.

His body was discovered in his SUV in a field outside Amsterdam, Mo, which is near the Kansas state line about 40 miles south of Overland Park.

Overland Park police said foul play is not suspected.

The Missouri Highway Patrol is handling the investigation.
