Man critically injured in downtown Wichita motorcycle crash

A 52-year-old man is in critical condition at a local hospital after he crashed his motorcycle Thursday morning on an access ramp linking downtown Wichita with eastbound Kellogg, police said.

The man was accelerating up the ramp at about 8:50 a.m. when his brakes locked suddenly and he laid his Harley Davidson down on the ground, striking his head on the pavement, Lt. Doug Nolte said. No other vehicles were involved in the accident.

The man was taken to Via Christi Hospital on St. Francis. Investigators aren’t sure why the rider braked so suddenly, Nolte said.
