TOPEKA — House Speaker Mike O’Neal said this afternoon that the House will offer the Senate most of the increased education funding it wants if the Senate will approve an alternative to the massive tax-cutting bill awaiting Gov. Sam Brownback’s signature.
The proposal is one of three options O’Neal said he can foresee as the legislative session, already beyond its usual 90 days, draws near an end.
O’Neal said the milder tax cut plan, which the Senate sent back to a committee today, would provide more flexibility for school funding.
