About 8:40 p.m. Thursday two people walking in the 3000 block of East Carmen, southwest of 21st Street and Hillside, heard three gunshots from a vehicle nearby, and police found a bullet hole in a home on the street where two people had been sitting on a porch, Wichita police said.
No one was injured, and it wasn’t clear what or who was targeted, police Lt. Doug Nolte said.
The vehicle was seeing going east on 21st from Carmen.
One question at the time was whether the shooting had anything to do with the East High School graduation ceremony occurring at nearby Wichita State University, but the two aren’t thought to be connected, Nolte said.
The vehicle was described as a black 2000 Pontiac four-door car, possibly a Grand Am or Grand Prix, with one unknown woman and three unknown men, Nolte said.
