Man stabbed in south Wichita

A man was taken to a local hospital with potentially serious injuries when he was stabbed during a fight late Monday night in south Wichita, authorities said.

A woman reported to 911 that her friend was “jumped” and stabbed multiple times shortly before 10:25 p.m. at 2229 S. Topeka, which is near the intersection of Topeka and Kinkaid, a Sedgwick County dispatcher said. The 39-year-old man was taken to Via Christi Hospital on St. Francis for treatment of injuries that are not considered life-threatening, Lt. Doug Nolte said.

There were several people in the area at the time of the altercation, Nolte said, but most said they saw nothing. Officers are still trying to piece together details.

Police are looking for two men and one woman in connection with the incident.
