Shots fired in air in drive-by on West 19th

Police are looking for two men after a drive-by shooting was reported at a residence Tuesday night.

A 45-year-old woman was sitting on her porch in the 700 block of West 19th Street shortly after 9 p.m. when two men in an white, older-model compact pulled into her driveway. Wichita Police Lt. Doug Nolte said one of the men rolled down his window and yelled at her, “This is payback,” and displayed a gun.

As the car backed out of the driveway, at least one of the men fired several shots in the air and they both drove off.

The woman told police she thought the shooting was in retaliation of recent incidents that happened at a nearby park. Nolte said the woman wasn’t involved in the incidents, and he didn’t know what the incidents were about.

“Nothing has happened at her house,” Nolte said.
