Colorado man killed in crash just east of El Dorado

A 61-year-old Colorado man was killed early Wednesday morning in a two-vehicle collision on U.S. 54 just east of El Dorado, authorities said.

Dee Duane Graham of Pueblo was driving east on U.S. 54 at a slow rate of speed when his Nissan pickup was hit from behind shortly after 1 a.m. by a pickup at the intersection with River Road, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol.

The impact knocked the first pickup off the highway and into a row of trees. Graham was not wearing a seatbelt and died at the scene, according to the highway patrol report.

The second pickup left the scene, but authorities later learned it was a Dodge pickup driven by 42-year-old Darrin Champagne of Trinity, Texas.
