A 23-year-old El Dorado woman arrested Monday is expected to be charged with first-degree murder in her 18-month-old daughter’s death, El Dorado Police Chief Tom Boren said.
Alyssa Haag’s daughter, whose name has not been released, died Friday of severe injuries, apparently sustained a week earlier in Haag’s home, Boren said. A police investigation found injuries on the toddler were inconsistent with Haag’s claims that the girl was hurt in an accident.
The girl was transported March 22 to El Dorado’s Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital, which reported her condition to police. She later was taken to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita and placed on life support.
Haag also is expected to be arraigned on charges of aggravated child endangerment, Boren said.
Formal charges had not been filed in Butler County District Court as of Monday afternoon, court administrator Neal Harrison said in a phone interview.
Boren said Haag has not been cooperating with the investigation, which is ongoing.
