A 63-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the fatal stabbing of a man during an argument early Saturday morning northeast of First and I-135, police said.
The victim has been identified as 45-year-old Tyree Colbert. He was stabbed once in the chest shortly before 3 a.m. Saturday at 219 N. Ash, Lt. Todd Ojile said. The suspect, who lives at that house, walked to a neighbor’s residence three houses away and asked them to call 911.
The suspect then called 911 himself to report a possible death, Ojile said. Colbert was pronounced dead at the scene. Ojile would not reveal what prompted the argument that led to the stabbing.
The knife used in the stabbing was recovered, he said, and the suspect was booked into jail on suspicion of second-degree murder.
This is the seventh homicide of the year in Wichita, Ojile said.
