A semi loaded with apples overturned on the exit ramp from eastbound K-96 to eastbound Kellogg early Sunday morning, briefly closing the ramp to traffic.
Chad Crittenden, a trooper with Kansas Highway Patrol, said the accident happened at about 7:42 a.m. when the driver of the semi went into the curve of the ramp too fast. The semi went off the right shoulder and overturned in a grass ditch on the south side.
The driver suffered minor injuries, but refused treatment from emergency personnel at the scene.
The ramp was closed to traffic for 30 minutes.
The apples didn’t fall out of the truck. It took until 3:15 p.m. to unload them box-by-box and put them in a second truck that was brought to the scene, Crittenden said.
