‘American Idol’ contestant to entertain at Ribfest

Former “American Idol” contestant Casey James will be among the performers at the Wichita Ribfest, scheduled for May 17-19 outside Intrust Bank Arena.

The venue announced several of the musical acts it has arranged for the festival earlier today.

James, a country singer known for the single “Let’s Don’t Call It a Night,” finished in third place on the ninth season of “American Idol” and will perform on Saturday, May 19. Among the other performers scheduled for the same day: Mexican music star Kareem Lopez and local groups Conjunto Anonimo, Poultry ‘N Motion and Pretty Ugly.

More acts will be announced later.

Wichita Ribfest will feature six national rib vendors, live entertainment, a beer garden and a children’s play area. Admission to the event is $4, free for children 12 and under.
