Drinking buddy not so friendly, assault victim reports

A man told police he was robbed by a drinking companion Tuesday near Intrust Bank Arena.

The man, 45, told police he spent three hours drinking near St. Francis and Waterman with a man he knew only as “James,” Lt. Doug Nolte said. After three hours, “James” and a female companion punched and kicked the man, and stole money from his wallet, he reported.

Police are asking anyone with information about the case to call 911 or CrimeStoppers at 267 2100.

The man was not seriously injured but had a black eye and a cut above his eye, Nolte said.
