A 5-year-old student at College Hill Elementary escaped serious injury after being hit by a car after school Tuesday, police said.
The boy was taken to Wesley Medical Center, Lt. Doug Nolte said. He was released with minor bruises. The accident occurred 4:20 p.m. at First Street and Clifton next to the school.
The boy ran into the street, and the woman behind the wheel slammed on her brakes but was unable to avoid him, Nolte said. Witnesses told police the driver had the right-of-way.
