Gardner man dies after KCK wreck

The Kansas Highway Patrol says a Gardner man was killed this morning in a head-on collision with a wrong-way driver on Interstate 635 in Kansas City, Kan.

The patrol identified the victim as 45-year-old Christopher T. Keck.

Keck was heading north on the highway just north of Interstate 70 about 8:45 a.m. Thursday when it collided “at highway speeds” with a car traveling southbound in the northbound lanes, the patrol reported.

The driver of that vehicle, a 55-year-old Kansas City, Kan., man, was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

Rescue crews had to extricate both men from the wreckage of their vehicles.

The crash is still under investigation.
