A man armed with a serrated knife robbed a convenience store in west Wichita on Tuesday night, police said.
The suspect walked into the Presto at 4414 W. Maple shortly after 7 p.m., pointed the knife at the 19-year-old clerk and demanded money from the register, Lt. Doug Nolte said. She complied, and he walked north away from the store.
She told police he is a lightly complected black man who is about 25 years old. He was between 5-feet-5 and 5-8, wore tan pants, a dark hoodie and a black scarf over the lower part of his face.
A man matching the same description is alleged to have committed shoplifting at a nearby Kohl’s with a second suspect about 45 minutes later, Nolte said.
