Four cousins have been charged with murder in the shooting death of a 19-year-old man in Oaklawn on Dec. 14.
Markez Phillips was visiting his girlfriend at 3002 E. Locust, near K-15 and 47th Street South, when robbers forced their way inside at about 9 p.m. on that Wednesday night, law enforcement officials have said. Phillips was shot early in the commission of the crime and pronounced dead about two hours later at a local hospital.
There were four other people at the house during the robbery, ranging in age from 5 months to 63 years, but they were not injured.
The robbers stole three big-screen televisions and other property, authorities have said.
Daniel Dupree was arrested the following day, and the others late last week.
Charged with first-degree murder, aggravated burglary and two counts of aggravated robbery are Daniel Dupree, 21; Reginald Dupree, 19; Francis Dupree, 24; and Nicholas Dupree, 27. Nicholas is also charged with criminal threat.
Bond was set at $1 million for each of the Duprees. They were also ordered to have no contact with witnesses.
Their preliminary hearings were all set for Jan. 3.
