Traffic on westbound Kellogg east of I-135 was diverted for more than four hours Sunday as authorities let a load of hay burn off after it caught fire in an accident at the interchange.
Emergency dispatchers said firefighters were called at 12:45 p.m., shortly after a truck pulling a trailer of hay caught fire. The driver of the truck was able to unhitch the trailer and escape without harm.
No injuries were reported.
Authorities decided to let the hay burn off before clearing the debris from the highway because the hay was so difficult to extinguish, emergency dispatchers said.
The fire’s cause was still under investigation late Sunday.
