An autopsy is being conducted today to find out the cause of death for a woman whose body was found Thursday afternoon outside a west Wichita apartment.
Authorities do not suspect foul play, Lt. Doug Nolte said, but investigators want to know if the intense heat wave contributed to her death.
The woman, whose name and age have not been released, had been recently released from a hospital, Nolte said.
Someone called emergency dispatchers at 3:15 p.m. Thursday to report that the woman was lying behind an apartment in the 500 block of North Anna, which is southwest of Central and West. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
