Police respond to report of stabbing near 13th, Maize

A robber stabbed a resident during a robbery this evening near 13th and Maize Road, Wichita police said.

The 29-year-old resident who was stabbed suffered a wound in his upper body that did not appear to be life-threatening, said Wichita police Lt. Brian White.

Emergency crews initially said the man was in critical condition. White described the man’s condition as stable. He said that police responded to a 911 call of the stabbing shortly after 5 p.m. in the 11600 block of West Nantucket.

The resident told police that an unknown man entered his home with a knife and demanded money. The robber took the money and left on foot in an unknown direction. Police have recovered the knife, White said.
