Ex-Wichita cop faces child sexual exploitation charge

WICHITA — A former Wichita police officer faced charges Friday that he had sexual contact with a child under age 14.

Greg P. Nicks, who was hired by the Wichita Police Department in 2006, made his first court appearance Friday in Sedgwick County District Court.

Nicks, 31, of Maize, faces two charges of aggravated indecent liberties and four counts of sexual exploitation of a child. Nicks worked as a police officer for just over three years. He is also a former Wichita Wild football player.

Another defendant, Luz D. Coronado, 28, faces similar charges in the same case.

Both face preliminary hearings, tentatively set for Nov. 17.

The two were arrested Thursday following an investigation by the Wichita/Sedgwick County Exploited and Missing Children's Unit.

They remained in the Sedgwick County Jail on Friday in lieu of $250,000 bond.
