Hearing set in case involving death of North Newton toddler

NEWTON — A court hearing, followed by a news conference, has been set for Thursday in the case of a man charged with murdering a North Newton toddler.

Chad Carr is charged with first-degree murder and other crimes in the March 2010 death of 19-month-old Vincent Hill. Carr was the live-in boyfriend of the boy's mother. Authorities said the boy suffered blunt-force injuries and most likely died by suffocation.

Carr's hearing has been set for 11 a.m. Thursday before Judge Richard Walker in Harvey County District Court. A news conference will follow the hearing, according to an e-mail from the Harvey County Attorney's Office. The office declined to comment further.
