More than 600 pounds of prescription drugs dropped off

WICHITA — More than 600 pounds of prescription drugs were turned in Saturday in the Wichita area as part of the National Drug Take Back Day campaign, according to the local Drug Enforcement Agency office.

Residents were encouraged to check their medicine cabinets and drop off prescription drugs no longer being used. The event was intended to help curtail prescription drug abuse.

A total of 616.6 pounds of drugs were dropped off at area sites, which were staffed by law enforcement agencies.
