Crash critically injures two, following Saturday night chase

The Kansas Highway Patrol is investigating a Saturday night accident that left two people hospitalized in critical condition on Sunday after a Wichita man led police on a chase.

According to the Highway Patrol report, Wichita police were pursuing a northbound vehicle on Hydraulic south of Douglas at about 11:30 p.m. Saturday when it ran a red light and struck a Jeep at Second Street and Hydraulic.

The 26-year-old driver who ran the red light was driving a 1988 Mercedes. He was taken to Via Christi Hospital on St. Francis where he is listed in good condition.

However, the driver of the Jeep and a passenger were critically injured.

The accident is being investigated by the Kansas Highway Patrol because Wichita police were involved.
